EDUCATOR AND MUSICIAN - WISCONSIN, UNITED STATES
To give you some information on me, I am currently working on my Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and studying trombone with Megumi Kanda (Principal Trombone, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra). I have a Bachelor of Music degree (Education) from St. Norbert College (De Pere). I am certified to teach instrumental music in the state of Wisconsin and was formerly a substitute music teacher. I also am on the staff of the Online Trombone Journal, where I volunteer my time as the Orchestral Sections Editor.
At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee I am a graduate teaching and project assistant. My duties include teaching the Fundamentals of Trombone course to undergraduate music education majors, assisting with the Youth Wind Ensembles, working in the band office, and performing with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Brass Quintet.
I am currently a member of several professional organizations, including the American Federation of Musicians, International Trombone Association, International Tuba-Euphonium Association, and the National Band Association.
As an active musician on trombone, euphonium, and tuba, I currently perform with the Newtonburg Brass Band (Newton), the Two Rivers Municipal Band (Two Rivers), and several ensembles at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have also performed with groups such as the Belle City Brassworks (Racine), the Lakeshore Big Band (Manitowoc), Lakeshore Wind Ensemble (Manitowoc), the Peninsula Players Theatre (Fish Creek), the St. Norbert Community Band, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Community Orchestra. In September 2008 I will begin performing with the 132nd Army Band as a member of the trombone section.
My teaching experiences, music-related, include teaching students at Reedsville High School (Reedsville, WI), the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Milwaukee, WI), Valders High School (Valders, WI), and Valders Middle School (Valders, WI). I have had the fortunate experience and pleasure to teach students from the elementary, middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. I also have a private teaching studio.
